COMMANDER’S FIELD GUIDE
Online and bot matches start with the same opening question, with a maximum of 20 seconds. Correct answers rank first, fastest first. Wrong answers follow, fastest first. No answer places last; unanswered ties are random. The question ends as soon as placement order is decided. This determines castle order only.
Tap a glowing position with at least two exits. Keep at least two intervening territories between castles. Invalid positions are dimmed, including positions that would leave the last castle without space. Each castle has three defences.
Choose a connected empty territory within 8 seconds (or 5 in settings). Tap to lock it immediately. If everyone chooses early, the question starts immediately. A missing choice is replaced automatically by a legal empty neighbour nearest your castle. A player without empty frontier land waits this round.
Everyone receives the same question. Correct answers capture different targets independently. If several players choose the same land, the first correct answer wins it. Wrong answers never capture land.
When neutral expansion ends, attacks take turns. Only attacker and defender answer; the third player waits. Only the attacker correct: capture. Both correct: a harder tie-break, up to three tied questions; then the defender holds. A castle has three defences. In three-player games, a successful castle hit immediately leads to another question against the same defender, up to three successful hits in one siege. The attacker must be correct and the defender incorrect on every hit. A failed hit ends the siege; tied answers trigger the usual tie-break. In two-player games, each castle hit ends that attack. Destroying a castle transfers that side’s lands. Be the last castle standing, or lead in land at the battle limit. Castle defences break a land tie.
One device → Players: the whole match uses turn-taking. Players place castles in a random turn order, then take turns choosing targets and answering. During a battle, pass the screen for the defender’s private answer. There are no simultaneous expansion races in this mode.
One device → Classroom teams: enter the number of students, using the number field or +/−, then choose two or three teams. Students are numbered from 1 and divided into balanced consecutive ranges without overlap. The game calls a number before each turn and a defending student during battles. Mark absent students to replace them. Each team cycles through its available students before repeating. This mode uses turn-taking throughout. During battles, the attacker answers first; the defender gets a different question and a fresh timer (30 seconds by default). Tap Ready to begin the defender’s question. During a continuous siege, the same pair keeps playing.
Your connected BKTeach classroom: the whole match uses turn-taking. Castle placement uses a random turn order. During expansion, one called pupil chooses a territory and answers. During battle, the attacker answers first, then the defender receives a different question from the selected lesson and a fresh timer (30 seconds by default). Tap Ready to start the defender’s question. The third group waits. Answers and explanations appear after both attempts. Correct attacker and incorrect defender: capture; both correct: a new pair of tie-break questions. Eligible pupils are divided into two or three mixed groups and called in rotation.
Drag to explore, pinch or use +/− to zoom, and use the target button to reset the view. Menu → Show available moves highlights legal targets without giving away answers. Menu → Audio & voice changes the announcer, English voice and volume. Start requests landscape fullscreen on supported phones. Add to Home Screen opens the game in its own window.
Online play needs internet and uses built-in lessons. Local custom packs stay in this browser. No account is required. Questions avoid repeats until their pool is exhausted. Game territories are play regions, not political borders. Coastlines: Natural Earth, public domain.
